You pick the right fly and lay it out on the water perfectly. A big upstream mend and it starts to happen. The nose of the fish you’ve been casting at for hours splits the water and BOOM, your fly disappears. A subtle lift of the rod and fish on! The adrenaline is running and the hair on your arms is pin straight. Eyes are wide and you can’t help but to let it out. WAHOO! This is how I was hooked from the start. My name is Gavin O’Donnell, I am an avid fly fishermen and outdoorsmen. I have been fishing since before I can recall and fly fishing since I was a young boy. Listening to my father, grandfather, and uncle share their stories about growing up in Maine, and learning to fish always fascinated me. From my love of brook trout native to these waters, along with the landlocked salmon that love to give you a show, an addiction was born. Every time I got to put a rod in my hand the passion grew fonder. Before I knew it, my driving force was wanting other people to feel what I feel out there. I was set on the goal of guiding as my career. Being one with nature, the perfect imperfections of a river is where I find peace on my adventure. Most of my time is spent on the water, whether it is with a client or family and friends. Sometimes my dog Otis gets to come along too. My love for fly fishing is too large to put into words.
